This is Northern MI where my family spends a week every year on the beach of Lake Michigan. Many of my best childhood memories are now becoming the boys’. Love.
*perfectly timed road trip. heart is so full. more coming.
Pressed reset this morning or last night rather when I forced myself to go to bed early instead of burning the midnight oil (again). Woke up earlier than normal and this day has been fantastic as a result.
Yesterday we played at the farm. I planted some tomatoes and green beans just in time for today’s rain. These little things like the salamander I unearthed center me and make me grateful for all I’ve been given.
(edit)

Today’s inspiration:
*blessed weekend friends
Nothing says it like spending an entire day indoors while the sun is shining warming the slight breeze. I caught myself starring out my window dreaming of toes in the dirt, fingers planting tiny seedlings, face in the sun.
Soon enough I keep saying but really thinking… it can’t be.
Grateful I’m being stretched enough to see growth / grateful for the small signs of spring on its way / grateful for the loyalty of a dog / grateful for community / grateful for love
I thought I’d share a little of what I do since this is a question I get quite a lot. Custom sewing is somewhat of a lost trade and the only one I’ve ever really known. I was taught by my sweet mother who practiced for nearly 30 years.
Generally I work for designers doing interior work such as window treatments, bedding, small slip covers and cushions etc. I also take occasional mending/alterations.
My dream as a girl was to actually be the designer contracting the work out but alas it appears I’m stuck. I certainly can’t complain.
In light of this, today I’m grateful for…
1/ the space to create freely 2/ a mother who invested in me 3/ my boys being extra patient today so I could get what I needed done 4/ jobs (small or big every penny counts) 5/ truth
After a good run I had the urge to do a headstand. I think my brain needed more oxygen. A feeling I get often, makes me feel like a kid plus I liked the view.
“Go, eat your food with gladness, and drink your wine with a joyful heart, for it is now that God favors what you do. Always be clothed in white, and always anoint your head with oil. Enjoy life with your wife, whom you love, all the days of this meaningless life that God has given you under the sun–all your meaningless days. For this is your lot in life and in your toilsome labor under the sun. Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the grave, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom.”
(Ecclesiastes 9:7-10)
1/ Healthy mind/strong body 2/ the simple joy of a new candle 3/ gifts from across the miles that tug at my heart (thankful for friends who get me) 4/ wool socks 5/ you (everyone reading this)
